Once called "This strange town, Liberal, Missouri" which has some books published about it. This town is about 6 miles from the Missouri stateline, about 35 miles northwest of Joplin, Missouri. Population is over 700. There is a Casey's General Store plus 3 other eating places, several beauty shops, a couple of automotive shops, a local newspaper and several churches.
