It is located on U.S. Highway 71 about 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis in the heart of Minnesota's dairy country. A half hour's drive will take you to some of the best fishing in the state, as well as camping, theatres and large shopping centers.
The Eagle Bend Public School was the first in the nation to be licensed to operate a low power educational television station.
The junior and senior high school students are educated at the school in Eagle Bend. The three-story poured concrete building was built in the 1940's by the W.P.A. and looks as good today as it did upon completion.
The businesses show the diversity of the area. You'll find farm-related implement and dairy supplies, a recreational vehicle dealer, a modern supermarket that specialized in homemade sausages, a fabric shop, craft, flower and gift shop, bank, restaurant famous for its chicken & dressing, a blacksmith and equipment manufacturer
The tallest building in Eagle Bend is our grain elevator, a part of Central Agriculture.
Emergency medical attention is provided by an up-to-date Rescue Squad from the Eagle Bend Volunteer Fire Department. Of its 26 volunteers at least half are EMT certified. The fire department is one of the best trained and well-equipped departments in the area.
In Eagle Bend, you can be as busy as you wish to be! There's a city park, tennis court, ball diamond; and in winter, a hockey rink and a skating rink. Eagle Lanes is a modern bowling alley that offers beginner's lessons, open bowling and league competition.
Within three miles of the city is the Double Eagle Golf Course. It has a unique layout, featuring a nine-hole reverse course that provides 18 totally different holes. A pro shop and supper club are also at the site.
The American Heritage Hunting Club is located about six miles west of town. They offer private hunting, trap shooting and a lodge and other activities for their guests.
The religious needs of the community are served by two Lutheran churches, the United Methodist and Assembly of God. Catholic churches are located in our neighboring towns.
A profile of Eagle Bend wouldn't be complete without mention of Chapel Gardens. Located a couple of miles from town, Chapel Gardens is a flower lovers' fantasy. In addition to hundreds of different kinds of flowers, a small (seats 12) interfaith chapel is used for weddings and baptisms.
