Harper Woods Travel Guide

Harper Woods is a small suburb just NE of Detroit, MI. It borders Detroit, Grosse Pointe Woods, St. Clair Shores and East Pointe, Michigan. Harper Woods is one of Detroit’s early suburbs, mainly built up in the 1940s and 50s with many brick and frame homes of similar style. Harper Avenue is the main thoroughfare. When Interstate 94 was built, it ripped through the city, tore up much of Harper Ave. and changed the complexion of the community. One of Harper Woods' claims to fame is Eastland Mall, one of the early indoor malls in the area. The city is also locally known for its little league baseball teams. Harper Woods is one of Detroit’s more racially integrated communities.
