Eating Out in Newton

Edit This
Since it's so close to the city, and home to a diverse and affluent population, Newton does not lack for great places to eat. From traditional "mom and pop" one of a kind restaurants to upscale chain restaurants, Newton caters to most peoples' tastebuds. High schoolers can be found crowding local sub shops (Bob's Sub Stop in Newton Upper Falls and Mighty Subs on Needham Street are local favorites) and bagel shops (Finagle a Bagel on Route 9 and East Coast favorite Dunkin Donuts), while adults can enjoy a meal at the upscale Capital Grille on Route 9 or the family Cheesecake Factory in the Atrium Mall. However, for good restaurants in Newton, prepare for a long wait because they are high in demand. The city provides a balanced mix of commercial restaurants and local favorites that give residents and visitors plenty of eating choices for a mid-sized suburb.

Dunn-Gaherin's

Edit This

A great Irish-style pub with a devoted local following, exceptionally friendly staff, and a homey atmosphere. The small size belies its great food and good selection of beer on tap. It tends to be closed Sundays, Mondays, and holidays, and exceptionally crowded during the immediate post-work rush (to the point where it becomes a traffic hazard), but it's worth any wait (and who cares about waiting, anyway, when you can wait with a pint of Guinness?).

Bob's Sub Stop

Edit This

Located in Newton Upper Falls, Bob's Sub Stop is a favorite of Newton locals who have visited the local sandwich shop since they were in middle school. Serving up delicious hot and cold subs for breakfast, lunch, and very early dinners, with fresh vegetables and perfect portions, Bob's is a Newton favorite for a reason. The best sub at Bob's is undoubtedly its Chicken Finger Sub, which is a dream-like marriage between warm breaded chicken and delicious sandwich toppings. Perhaps the best part about Bob's is its friendly service. Its owners have been part of the Newton community more..
