Oldest settlement on the island, whaling captains.

Picturesque town with old whaling captian homes, white greek revival architecture.  Cute "main" street crowded with shops for souvenirs, antiques, preppy clothes and ice cream.  Edgartown is a bit pricer and more "formal" than other Vineyard towns but at least worth a visit if not your base for exploration on the island.
