Boston Public Garden

Edit This
Adjacent to the Boston Common is the Public Garden, which is a slightly more formal greenspace for the city, with lush plantings, and a wide variety of majestic trees, ornate fountains, and impressive statues. Founded in 1837, the Public Garden is a quiet oasis in the middle of the city.

The main attraction of the Public Garden is the lagoon with the famous Swan Boats. The Swan Boats are a 120 year old tradition of a leisurely cruise on swan-shaped paddleboats, and are enjoyed by young and old alike.

The Public Garden is carefully maintained, and while generally nobody objects, there are some places where the grass is not meant to be trampled, and it is polite to dismount bicycles when passing through. It is located between Arlington and Charles streets, across the latter from the Boston Common, and is at the end of the Newbury Street shopping district. The easiest T access is via Arlington on the Green Line
