Montgomery County Travel Guide

Montgomery County is the region just to the northwest of Washington DC.  Principal communities are Potomac, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Silver Spring.  Much of the area (particularly Potomac, Bethesda, and Chevy Chase) are very wealthy communities, in sharp contrast to neighboring Prince George's County. 

Bethesda has become a favored location in recent years, developing a wide variety of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.  It is also the home of the National Institutes of Health and the National Naval Medical Center.  Chevy Chase is home to generations of aristocrats and the upscale shopping and restaurants that they demand.  Silver Spring is more up-and-coming and has seen a huge influx of immigrants in recent years.
