The Rail Trail/Greenway

The find the Rail trail, enter the Maine State Housing Authority's parking lot on the southern end of Water St., which is the street that runs along the waterfront in Augusta. Next follow the parking lot to its termination where a gate marks the continuation of the Rail Trail/Greenway. The Rail Trail, so called because it parallels train tracks, runs from Augusta, through neighboring towns of Hallowell and Gardiner, and ultimately connects to a line of pedestrian trails called the Greenway, which goes all the to Florida.
