The "Trail of Tears" march of the Cherokee Indians came through Hopkinsville on its way from North Carolina to Oklahoma. Near here is the Land Between the Lakes national recreation area. It is bordered by Barkley Lake and Kentucky Lake. The LBL is a large area that has campgrounds, hunting, fishing and is a most popular vacation site for families.
