Franklin Travel Guide

Franklin is a town of approx. 8000.  It is located in Simpson Co. near the TN state line about 45 mi. N. of Nashville. Primarily an agriculture community- the town boasts of several well-known residents- in years gone by and presently.  Among them:

  T.O.Chisholm, writer of many poems of which approximately  800 were put to music.  Some of the best known are hymns such as "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "Living For Jesus"

Actress, Annie Potts, one of the stars of the TV show, "Designing Women".

Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash were married in Franklin.

There are a number of annual events in Franklin that attract people from around the area and beyond.

For over 40 years there has been an Antique Auto Show and arts/crafts fair.  There are over 30 classes of cars and 3 trophies presented in each class.

About 5 mi. N. of Franklin is "Octagon Hall Museum", the only eight-sided brick house in KY, and only one of just a few in the United States.  It was built before the Civil War and at one time over 12,000 troops camped near here.
