Rensselaer Travel Guide

Rensselaer is a small city of around 4,000 people just off I-65 amid the plains of northern Indiana. Amtrak still makes stops in Rensselaer, though only two daily; in fact, the town's name is taken from a man named Rensselaer who was involved with the railroad when it was coming in. The buns for the White Castle hamburger chain are baked in Rensselaer, which helps keep its economy stable.

Though small, Rensselaer has a small private Catholic college, St. Joseph's College of Indiana. It also has a decent local chain Arni's pizza parlor, Chinese restaurant, and a seasonal ice cream parlor called the Busy Bee.
