The greatest thing about Maui is that it is actually as magical and amazing as everyone says it is. In this lush paradise it is almost impossible not to relax. Breathe the fresh air and bask in the sunshine and let serenity wash over you. Meandering around this small island is easy and fun, and the following sights and activities are must do’s for Maui:

Haleakala National Park

Haleakala National Park is home is a 10,000 foot inactive volcano that happens to be half the surface of Maui. The views here are absolutely incredible. The most popular activity is to drive up for the sunrise and then coast down on a bicycle. At 10 a.m. this area often gets cloudy and the views are obscured, but they clear up towards the end of the day.

Hana

Waterfalls, scenic views and lush tropical vegetation await you. It is one of the most popular destinations on the island. The town of Hana is the perfect place to go if you need a vacation from your vacation. There are only a handful of restaurants and places to stay. You must stop by picturesque Hamoa Beach. Make sure you have enough gas, between Pa’ia and Hana there are no stations.

Paia

This is the last town you will get to before Hana. This town used to be a sugar plantaion and has many historic country buildings. These buildings have been converted into art galleries, gourmet restaurants and eclectic shops. Hookipia Beach is only minutes away and is world famous for windsurfing.

Oheo Gulch

The people who turn back once they reach Hana are missing out on the Seven Sacred Pools of Oheo Gulch. Bring your bathing suit so you can jump off rocks into tranquil pools at this chain of waterfalls that flow into the ocean. One of the best hiking trails on Maui is here, the Pipiwai Trail. The pools along this 2 hour trail route tend to be less crowded. 

Luau

You can’t come to Maui and not go to a Luau. These ceremonies are part of the culture of this spectacular island. You will receive a buffet style dinner which features a variety of deliciously roasted animals. There are also bottomless hard and soft beverages. You will be right on the beach and have the opportunity to see live hula music and and a dancing performace.
