Manta Ray Dives
Edit ThisA must do for divers (AND snorklers) is the Manta Ray night dive. There are two locations where you go, one just off the marina, and the other off of the Sheraton at the southern end of Kailua.
About 20(?) years ago, it ws noted that Mantas would come to near shore, attracted by the plankton that they feed on. Apparently, the lights from the hotel (Sheraton), used to show the waves to the guests, attracted the plankton, which attracted the Mantas, who feed on the plankton.
Thus, an industry was born.
Obviously, with wild creatures, nothing is guaranteed. more..
