Central City Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeCentral City is one of several locations in Colorado where it is legal
to gamble (see Black Hawk and Cripple Creek info for the other
locations). There are many smaller casinos throughout Central
City.
Central City was once a booming mining town and was known as the "Richest Square Mile on Earth." It was a historical location with museums and attractions for much of the time between the gold rush and the present day. In the early 1990s, Colorado voters allowed Central City to engage in limited gambling (bets are limited to $5, there are time restrictions on gambling). This re-vitalized the area and now much of the city is populated mostly with casinos.
There are several companies that run buses from Denver (about an hour east) on regular schedules to bring gamblers up to the city.
