Day Trips Intro in Santa MonicaEdit This
Take a Santa Monica Day Trip to the "Entertainment Capital of L.A.," Universal Studios Hollywood, California. Just a short drive from Santa Monica, you'll find this premier West Coast attraction. Take a tour and see actual movie backdrops and sets, actors dressed as your favorite celebrities wandering the lots, and some of the wildest theme park ride experiences ever invented.
The park is open from 9:00 a.am. to 8:00 p.m. during the summer time, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during fall, winter and spring. The guided tour goes through exclusive parts of the park, including actual filming sets where major TV shows and movies have been shot. It's definitely an interesting attraction for people of all ages, no matter what your interests may be.
Some of the more popular sights at Universal Studios Hollywood California are Earthquake: The Big One, Flash Flood, Jaws, the Psycho House and Bates Motel, The Mummy's Tomb; and Jurassic Park: The Ride, Transformers: The Ride, Terminator 2 in 3-D and Waterworld. Another popular attraction that happens once a year is Halloween Horror Nights which turns a part of the park into a large-scale haunted house.
New and upcoming park attractions will include the King Kong 3-D Experience which opens July 2010 and the Simpsons Ride, a newer attraction that was "Voted World's Best New Attraction" for 2008 by the readers of a theme park web site. Visitors will also notice newer movie sets while taking the studio tours. There's been a huge street set expansion recently and this was in part thanks to consultation from director/producer Steven Spielberg. You'll enjoy seeing all that Universal Studios has to offer while riding in comfort from the park's new trams featuring the best in HD monitors.
