Les Rendezvous

Edit This
A hidden jewel this quaint, charming little out of the way restaurant is located in a residential area of north San Bernardino. Set at the foot of the mountains, Le Rendez-Vous has long been a local favorite as well as a popular dining choice for travelers on the journey home from Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead. Large wood beams against the white ceilings add a rustic touch. The menu, which changes regularly, might include such classic French dishes as escargots bourguignon, coq au vin, roast duckling à l’orange and rabbit. Crêpes Suzette and cherries jubilee are frequently offered on the dessert menu along with tempting fresh pastries. The fairly priced wine list is well above average and includes some nice half-bottles. The owner, Jean-pierre is the head chef is French and regularly has specials that are not on the menu. There is an eclectic selection of good wines. The selections are not inexpensive but the quality exceeds expectations for the cost. Some samples of entre s are salmon with tarragon cream sauce, lamb with peppercorn sauce, duck with cherry sauce and filet mignon with bearnaise. There is the mandatory french onion soup gratinee which can be matched in taste but not exceeded. The vischioisse is much the same. The house salad dressing is unrivaled. The desserts are good enough for a trip on their own.
