San Bernardino Asistencia

Edit This

Established as an adjunct to Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, the Asistencia is often said to be part of a second, inland chain of missions. At the site is a museum, small chapel, and gatehouse

The current site was built in 1830 but was looted by attacking Indians in 1834; some Indian neophytes were also killed there that year. This basically was the end of the asistencia and it quickly passed into private hands. José de Carmen Lugo purchased the property in 1842.

It was sold to the Mormons in the early 1850s, was a school, and used as a furniture more..

Kimberly Crest House and Gardens

Edit This

Kimberly Crest is modeled after a French chateau and has been lovingly restored. In fact, it has been lived in by only three families since being built in 1897 by Mrs. Cornelia Hill. It was bought by Mrs. Helen Kimberly, and then Mrs. Elizabeth Shirk. For people familiar with Hollywood, the Magic Castle in Hollywood is an exact mirror image of Kimberly Crest. The Magic Castle was remodeled as a private nightclub for magic shows and dining. Admission donation is $7 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, and $3 for children 6-12; children 5 and under will be free. Special Tours more..
