Black's Beach in La Jolla is perhaps California's best beach break wave. It carries size, shape and speed like few others. When it's head-high or higher, be careful unless you are an experienced surfer. Depending on the conditions and swell direction, Black's produces plenty of rights, lefts and A-frame sets.

The beach itself lies at the bottom of a privately owned bluff in an upscale residential area. Access to the beach is had--by those without keys to the gate--by parking on La Jolla Farms Rd. and walking down the half-mile long road that winds down the ravine. You more..
