This former farming town is named after Sedona Schnebly, a local from the area. Gaining popularity with the second home crowd due to its scenic location, Sedona was voted "The Most Beautiful Place in America" by USA's Weekend's Annual Travel Report. Sedona is situated in a unique geological area, it is surrounded by red-rock monoliths, and is close to Oak Creek Canyon.
Towering above Sedona is Mogollon Rim, which constitutes the southwestern boundary of the vast Colorado Plateau, is home to the largest contiguous stand of ponderosa pine in the world. The plateau extends into parts of five other states.
Also close by is the Coconino National Forest, which encompasses seven wilderness areas.
Sedona combines luxurious resorts, bed & breakfasts, and small shops. Impressive art galleries and fine restaurants are nestled in an unusually rugged canyon surrounded by an expansive national forest.
