On the Ryndam cruise ship viewing a glacier

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, west of Juneau in Southeast Alaska can be reached only by boat or plane. Park headquarters are located at Bartlett Cove.

Many large cruise ships and smaller tour vessels schedule a day in the bay in their Southeast Alaska itineraries.

In Glacier Bay you can see many glaciers. At Johns Hopkins Glacier, ice calving is ongoing and most cruise ships are treated to great views of the ice crashing into the sea. Also in Johns Hopkins Inlet, tourists can view pan ice covering the water surface, a result of all the ice calving.
