Although Nuuk, Greenland has one of the smallest populations of a capital city (around 18,000 inhabitants), it is a city like no other. With a landscape and climate unlike most of world, this is truly an amazing destination, especially when it comes to accommodation. You won't find many standard hotels in this region, but more interesting places to stay are all around.

By far the most sought-after (and perhaps the only) hotel in Nuuk is the Hotel Hans Egede. This is a 4-star (highest in European rating) hotel with state-of-the-art conference facilities. The Sky Line Bar is on the 5th floor of the hotel and features a local pianist playing every night. The windows will provide you with a stunning view of the area, giving the bar its name. Prices range from $180 per night for their budget room to $555 per night for their suite that accommodates 1-2 people. At their restaurant on-site you can enjoy native Greenlandic meals or international cuisine so you never feel too far away from home.

An interesting alternative to the normal hotel are the Nordbo Hotel Apartments. What makes these termed "hotel apartments" is the fact that you have your own entrance and kitchen. The hotel staff can provide you with most anything you need, even play pins and highchairs for children. You will also be able to connect to the internet here. You wouldn't think it, but prices here are quite affordable by Greenland standards, ranging from $150 per night for a 1-bedroom apartment to $310 per night for 3 bedrooms.

Just outside of Nuuk, in what is considered a suburb, is a small village called Qeqertarsuatsiaat. Here you will find a large home that has been turned into something like a small hotel. They offer 3 single rooms and 2 double rooms. The house has a patio that overlooks the lake and you are only a 5 minute walk from the harbor. The house is newly restored, so you will have modern amenities. This will likely be the cheapest accommodation you will find in the area. A single room costs around $60 per night and a double room costs $85 per night.
