Ilulissat Hotel Deals
accommodation in Ilulissat
Edit ThisThere are not many hotels in Ilulissat, Greenland. The good news is that they are all pretty much great accommodations. The bad news is that they are all priced over $200 per night. Greenland is a remote place that has pristine beauty you won’t see anywhere else. Ilulissat is a wonderful place to hike, see ice fjords and be awed by nature.
Hvide Falk
The staff at the Hvide Falk is friendly and ready to help you with any travel advice you may need. Breakfast is hearty and delicious and based on the Greenlandic cuisine. There is a restaurant and bar here and it is easy to make friends with the staff and other travelers. The deck on the second floor of the Hvide Falk has an amazing view of the ice; request a room on the second floor to enjoy this view for your entire stay. The location of this hotel is also a highlight. You are in the center of town so you can walk to the harbor and shops. Beware of the 5% commission that is required if you pay by credit card.
Hotel Arctic Illulissat
This 4 star Illulissat hotel is charming and has amazing views of the harbor and the mouth of the scenic ice fjord. The lobby has computer with internet you can use for free to check your email. Rooms are stylish and have breathtaking views. There is a restaurant onsite that fills fast and does not stay open late. You should make reservations as early in the day as possible. Standard rooms are slightly small but executive rooms are larger. Saturday night is the time for delicious BBQ on their attractive outdoor terrace. Sometimes the sun seems to never dip below the horizon here, luckily the Illulissat hotel has thick curtains to keep out the light. Animal lovers will probably not like the seal fur that is placed around the reception desk.
Hotel Icefiord
The rooms at the Hotel Icefiord are clean, comfortable and come with only basic amenities. But are you really there to spend time in your hotel room? When you are there open the curtains to bask in breathtaking views of icebergs floating by your window. Listening to the cracking and crashing of the icebergs coming apart is beyond memorable. Surprisingly the kitchen is run by cooks from Thailand so both western style and Thai cuisines are always on the menu. The staff is obliging and affable.
