Montreal is a great city, and there is plenty of Montreal nightlife to be had. You can spend your evening enjoying a drink at one of the many pubs, bars, nightclubs, lounges, theaters, or concert venues. In Montreal you can relax with friends, unwind after a long day, see some internationally acclaimed entertainment, and much more.

Bars and Pubs

If you love beer and want to try some rare brews, then stop by Brutopia Brew Pub. This pub has a great reputation, and has a great atmosphere because it's located in a brick-lined building on Crescent Street. If you're looking for something more European, with an emphasis on France, then stop off at Mechant Bouef. This is also great for those that love rock music, as the DJ keeps it coming all night long.

The Whisky Café on St. Laurent Boulevard is the place for after-dinner drinks, as it carries more than 150 scotch whiskeys, wines and ports. They also have a cigar lounge and offer tastings. A huge bar that has recently been renovated after a fire is Bar L’Aventure on Route 321. This popular bar is now open for business, and can hold more than 1,000 people.

Relax at a Jazz Club

If you love jazz music and Mediterranean food, then stop by Modavie on St-Paul Street in Old Montreal. This restaurant/club offers great food and jazz in a warm, intimate setting.  Also, the House of Jazz is a city landmark that has been open since 1981. Here you can listen to some of the city’s best jazz artists.

The Upstairs Jazz Bar & grill has dedicated itself to blending food, live music, ambiance and service to truly dazzle the guests. They offer music every day of the week, and the food is created to bring you a tasty fusion of old and new styles.

The Symphony and the Opera

The Opera de Montreal offers opera from September through May. The opera house was founded in 1980, and has collaborated with some of the best companies in the world, such as Houston Grand Opera, Bellas Artes and Opera Australia. More than 90 operas have been put on here, and it has premiered works such as Therese Raquin and Nelligan.

The city also has its own Symphony Orchestra, which also as a youth orchestra. Here you will have the opportunity to listen to chamber music as well as solo performers. Some of the most famous artists in the world perform with the orchestra. The orchestra performs at the new Grand Culture and Arts Place at Saint-Urbain Street.

Stereo nightclub is an afterhours club in  Montreal, Canada which primarily features house music. It opened its doors in 1998 and was voted #5 of the top 10 nightclubs in the world by Muzik magazine (October 1999). It was the only North American club on the list. Most of the world's leading DJs have played at Stereo, but the club itself boasts an impressive roster of residents as well.
