Cruises
Edit ThisThe slow-paced, stress free atmosphere of Prince Edward Island makes it an often sought for travel destination. Its friendly people, connection with nature, and bright, colorful houses and buildings make it an attractive place for cruise liners to stop as well. The main port is in Charlottetown, and the best times to visit are late spring, summer, and early fall. Kayaking on the north shore is popular as are biking excursions, seal watching, and wandering through and around historic parks, churches, homes, and buildings.
Celebrity Cruises
The Celebrity Constellation will take you on a 14-night luxury cruise round-trip from Cape Liberty, New Jersey. Stops are made in Newport, Boston, Portland, Bar Harbor, Halifax, Quebec City, and Charlottetown. For the length of this cruise and all it includes, the prices are reasonable. An interior room will set you back $1,149 USD per person, and an ocean view room costs $1,399 per person. The ship boasts a lush garden conservatory overlooking the ocean, a large library, a huge selection of restaurants and bars, a fitness center, and a health and beauty spa called AquaSpa. Shore excursions are available at every port; in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, land trips include a photography tour, a nature tour, biking, a ride in a horse drawn trolley, a tour on a double decker bus through Charlottetown, and an Anne of Green Gables tour.
Norwegian Cruises
For a shorter trip, book a cruise on the Norwegian Jewel. It embarks on a round trip cruise from New York City, New York, making brief stops in Boston, Halifax, Quebec City, Charlottetown, and Sydney. This is another reasonably priced cruise. It costs $699 USD per person for an interior room, and $949 per person for a room with an ocean view. This large, luxurious cruise ship features a fitness center, a health and beauty spa, and plenty of hot tubs and pools, along with a water slide. For active lovers of exercise and sports, the ship also has a jogging or walking track, tennis courts, basketball courts, and areas for volleyball. Additionally, a casino, a chapel, an art gallery, clubs, and a host of restaurants and bars make this cruise ship an entertainment filled place that you may never want to leave.
Despite the allure of the Norwegian Jewel, itself, the ports where it stops can be even more exciting due to all of the available activities on land. You can take the Ultimate Anne of Green Gables Tour, go out for a nice lobster lunch, and sightsee from a double decker bus or trolley all in Charlottetown.
