Quaint Niagara-on-the-Lake has a surprisingly large selection of accommodations considering its small size. No matter what you’re looking for in a place to stay, this little town probably has it. Stay at a five diamond hotel, or in someone’s cozy guest house. Ironically, some of the economically-priced bed and breakfasts or cottages can be even more luxurious and friendly than the big, expensive, highly-rated hotels. Keep that in mind when deciding where to stay on your next vacation.

Bed & Breakfasts

There are plenty of hotels in town to choose from, but there are even more bed and breakfasts. Prices can range from $30 to $300 per night. There is a bed and breakfast on practically every block, perhaps even every half block! They are undoubtedly the preferred accommodation of visitors. Most of the houses are beautiful, with ornate staircases, detailed architecture, and decorative antiques. The people of Niagara-on-the-Lake are, generally-speaking, very friendly and warm towards visitors; perhaps that is why owners of bed and breakfasts tend to spoil their guests and even treat them as part of the family.

Hotels

If you’re more of a “hotel person”, who enjoys all of the perks, services, and privacy that come with staying in larger accommodations, you have many choices as well. More often than not, the hotels of the town cost more than, say, a bed and breakfast. They tend to be located either in or within walking distance from the center of town and Lake Ontario. Nicer hotels cost around $150 to $300 and have a selection of rooms from standard to deluxe suites. There are chain hotels and privately owned hotels, as well as historic hotels from particular eras. The restored historic hotels come highly recommended and some even have claims of being haunted; if you’re not a fan of the supernatural, it may be better to stick to a more modern place!

Vacation Homes

In the same price range as the hotels are the private vacation homes, which are also good options. These are recommended, especially if you’re traveling with your family or with a group. All the comforts of home are included such as a washer and dryer, kitchen, garden, patio, etc.; many even have a barbeque area in the back yard to enjoy. Just make sure to make reservations way ahead of time, particularly if you’re planning to travel to Niagara-on-the-Lake in the summer.
