Sirmilik National Park

Edit This

Sirmilik National Park has three separate land areas. Bylot Island is a spectacular area of rugged mountains, icefields and glaciers, coastal lowlands and seabird colonies. Oliver Sound is a long, narrow fiord with excellent opportunities for boating, hiking and camping. Borden Peninsula is an extensive plateau divided by broad river valleys. The park features landforms and superb wilderness hiking and camping, and a major seabird colony in the surrounding area of Baillarge Bay. Located on northern Baffin Islan in Canada's High Arctic, Sirmilik National Park  is one of Canada's isolated and most spectacular National Parks. Sirmilik National Park was established in 2001. Sirmilik is an Inuktitut word meaning “the place of the glaciers”.
