There are many ways to get out and enjoy the scenery of the Grand Forks area. If you enjoy hiking, you will find trail descriptions at the Visitor Information Centre or at the Ministry of Forests District Office. Two of the recommended trails listed in Westworld magazine ( a BCAA publication) are the Badger Trail along Christina Lake and the Granby River Trail. The Badger Trail boasts panoramic views and an easy hike 2.3 km one way. The Granby River Trail takes you along the east bank of the Granby River through old-growth forests and into Granby Provincial Park. Canoeing and kayaking can also be done on both the Granby and the Kettles rivers. Swimming can be enjoyed in the rivers or at nearby Christina Lake. I swam there as a child and enjoyed it greatly although it didn't have the facilities now available. It is a popular site though, so expect it to be busy on weekends and holidays. There are several places to ride bicycles depending on your ambition. The Trans Canada Trail runs along the railway lines both East and West of the Forks. There are trails all over Pheonix Mountain. And you can ride around Christina Lake without too much difficulty.
