Eating Out

Edit This
The tourism development in the wake of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort attracted some fine dining places to this previously pre-dominantly blue collar railway and forestry town. Although you are visiting a friendly small town, you will be able to experience some "haute cuisine".

In my opinion the top spot belongs to "Eagle's Eye", and that's not only because it's at an elevation of 7,700 ft. Canada's highest full-service mountain top restaurant. Of course, the scenic location comes into play, but particularly the dinner menu offers some excellent culinary art.

My #2 is the cosy "Cedar House CafĂ© & Restaurant" on a hillside overlooking the Columbia River wetlands a couple of minutes south of Golden. The "The Kicking Horse Grill" and "ELEVEN22 Grill & Liquids" are certainly some other restaurants to explore at the south-side of town, as is  "The Turning Point Restaurant", a favourite with the locals.

In downtown Golden, north of the Kicking Horse bridge, "Apostoles Restoranté" is worth a visit, as is "The Canyon's Edge Steakhouse & Grill" near the east entrance to town, offering as a bonus great views accross the Columbia Valley.

A little bit more off the beaten path, but also not to be missed, are the restaurants at "Glenogle Mountain Lodge and Spa" and the "Timber Inn".

Good thing that Golden offers so many summer and winter outdoor adventure activities, to work off all those calories.
