Jasper Tramway .

Located 10 minutes from the town of Jasper, the Tramway is Canada's longest aerial tram operation. The upper terminal at 2,500 metres (8,200 ft) offers spectacular view of the surrounding area. A one-way trip in the 30 passenger cabin takes 7 minutes. Cafeteria, dining room, lounge and gift shops are offered. Miette Hot Springs .

- Run by the Canadian Parks Service, the complex consists of two outdoor bathing pools - one deep and one shallow - fed by hot sulphur springwater chlorinated and cooled to approximately 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees F). Athabasca Falls .

The force of the Athabasca River is funnelled into a narrow canyon cut in very hard, quartz-rich sandstone rock. Viewpoints are located along the falls. Address: Located 30 km (18.75 mi) S of jasper townsite along the Icefield Park

Spirit Island

Spirit Island is only accessible by boat from the shore of Maligne Lake. Tickets for a guided boat tour can be purchased at $35 CAD in advance from the ticket office in Jasper town centre or bought at Maligne Lake itself. The boat trip is a 90 minute round-trip, with a 10 minute stop off at Spirit Island.

Spirit Island is the subject of reputedly one of the most famous photographs in the world. An amateur photographer took a photo of this island and entered it into a Kodak photography competition, winning first prize of having his photo enlarged to billboard size and more..

Columbia Icefield .

This massive field of ancient ice covers 325 sq km (125 sq mi) and reaches depths estimated at 385 m (1,270 ft). It is composed of the Athabasca, Stutfield and Dome glaciers. Straddling the Continental Divide, the icefield feeds four of the continent’s major river systems: the Columbia, Fraser, Mackenzie and Saskatchewan. Meltwaters from the icefield flow to three different oceans (the Pacific, Arctic and Atlantic). Called a ‘hydrological apex,’ it is one of only two in the world (the other is in Siberia). Tangle Falls .

Beautiful waterfalls tumble down the Tangle Ridge. Bighorn sheep are often seen in this area. Address: 96 km (60 mi) S of Jasper l34 km (83.75 mi) N of Lake Louise.

Medicine Lake .

Maligne Lake .

Maligne Lake offers one of the largest attractions in Jasper National Park. Visitors can choose from scenic cruises to world-famous Spirit Island, white water rafting, horsebackriding, guided trout fishing, hiking, canoe renting and shopping. Banff/Jasper Parks Boundary .

At this boundary located in the Sunwapta Pass, the headquarters of the North Saskatchewan River and the Sunwapta River flow in opposite directions. Address: Located 108km (67.5 mi) S of Jasper/122km (76.25 mi) N of Lake Louise

Mount Edith Cavell .

Mount Edith Cavell, 3363 m above sea level, was named after a British nurse who was executed by the Germans for helping allied troops escape. Angel Glacier lies in a saddle area on the NE slope. Address: 29 km (11.8) S of Jasper on Hwy. 93, then Hwy. 93A

Old Fort Point .

Near the site of an early fur brigade post, this area is the starting point for a number of hiking trails. Try the loop to Lac 13cauvert or the 17 km (10.6 mi) trip to the Valley of the Five Lakes. Address: Located 1.6 km (1 mi) S from Jasper

Punchbowl Falls .

A mountain creek tumbles over a cliff face creating a narrow crevice in the stone. The steepness and irregularities of the cliff face all contribute to the unusual shape of these falls. Address: 48 km (30 mi) E of Jasper. 1km (0.6 mi) up the Miette Hot Springs Rd

Pyramid and Patricia Lakes .

Stutfield Glacier .

From this point, view the Sunwapta River, an excellent example of a braided river. The valley bottom is filled with sand and gravel spreading the river across the valley floor in interlacing channels. The Stutfield Glacier features a picturesque pair of ice falls which spill down the face of Mt. Stutfield. Address: 95 km (59.3 mi) S of Jasper l35 km (84.3 mi) N of Lake Louise.

Sunwapta Falls .

Here the Sunwapta River abruptly changes its course from NW to SW and plunges into a deep canyon producing a spectacular waterfall. Open: June to Sept. Address: 55 km (34.3 mi) S of Jasper/l 75 km (109 mi) N of Lake Louise.
