Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH)
Edit ThisFounded in 1914, the Art Gallery of Hamilton is Ontario’s third largest public art gallery and owns one of the finest collections of art in Canada, featuring over 9,000 works of art including historical European, historical Canadian and contemporary art. Its recently-renovated and award-winning premises present exhibitions that change three times a year.
William Blair Bruce, painter (born in Hamilton, (then Canada West) 10 Oct 1859; died at Stockholm, Sweden 17 Nov 1906). He was Canada's first impressionist painter. The AGH was founded in 1914 with a large donation of his works and 29 of his works are featured on a wall in the salon style at the AGH.
