Museum Taman Prasasti
Edit ThisMuseum Taman Prasasti is an open air museum about tombstones and wooden carriages that used to bring the coffins in funerals.
The story about this museum start in 18s century whenever the Dutch make a cemetery in Kebon Jahe Kober area for the famous Dutch person in Jakarta and around.
Whenever the land remain full, they leave this graveyard. Then the Government of the Republic of Indonesia arrange the area as an open museum. Several of the coffins and buried bodies were taken and put in the other places but the tombstones still kept in here.
Several of the most important tombstones here are; Lady Marianne Raffles' [wife of Governor Raffles], Soe Hok Gie and several Dutch Governor General in Sumatra and Java.
