Malpensa Airport to Bergamo by train and subway
Edit ThisTo avoid the traffic on the autostrada you can take a train (Malpensa Express - Ferrovie Nord Milano) from the Malpensa Airport Terminal 1 to "Cadorna" train station in Milan City (Milano Stazione Cadorna). If you are in Terminal 2, then there are shuttle buses between Terminal 1 & 2.
The train leaves from the lower ground floor in Terminal 1 and takes about 40 minutes to Milan City. The ticket costs €11 one way(€13.50 if you buy it on the train) and less for children. Then take a taxi or the subway (5 stops away on the more..

Buses are frequent and not so expensive. The "autostradale" buses are the intercity buses. The bus stations are near the train station.

Bergamo Airport
Edit ThisThe airport at Bergamo is in the city limits of Orio al Serio. It is also considered a Milan Airport, along with Linate Airport and Malpensa Airport, even though Milan is about an hour away from Bergamo.
There is a new bus (January 2006) that goes from the Orio al Serio Airport to Bergamo City, in front of the train station, and then all the way to the top of the High Town. It's bus 1C and goes from 6 am to midnight.

Brescia & Verona Airports
Edit ThisMany times The Bergamo Airport located at Orio al Serio uses the Airports at Brescia and at Verona for extra landing possibilities. The Verona Catullo Airport is around an hour by train or bus from Bergamo. And then there's an airport shuttle bus from the Verona train station to Verona Catullo Airport leaving every 20 minutes and it takes 15 minutes to get there (4.50 euro).
The Brescia and Verona Airports are both on the same website with time schedules, fares and a map. Instead the Brescia Airport Gabrielle d'Annunzio is between Verona and Bergamo. Take more..

All destinations are easily reached with the good Italian transportation system which is very much used by Italians as well as foreigners. Sit back and relax and enjoy the view or even get a sleeping car for overnight travel.
If you are in a hurry you can take the Eurostar train and get there faster.

Urban Bus
Edit ThisThe S.A.B. bus company connects many locations outside the town of Bergamo and goes as far as the seaside and the mountains and valleys. The S.A.B. Station is beside the train station: as you leave the train station it's to the right. Their internet site includes links to inter-regional and international bus transportation and all kinds of tourist information and live web cams.

There is an autostrada that links Bergamo to other cities. There are also state roads that go to the mountains, lakes or the surrounding country. You can go by bicycle, motorcycle, car or caravan.
Michelin has a very good map. Better yet BERGAMO TOUR.IT has City and Province maps (right hand center side of internet site) that can be printed out and best of all it has a virtual tour area both for the city and the province (upper right hand corner of the internet site).
