City Buses
Edit ThisBaptistry in Città Alta, behind Piazza Vecchia

An excellent city bus map and schedules (linee e orari) may be found in the office in Porta Nuova or at the internet address below. Bus 1C is the Airport bus (aeroporto), €1.55 one way including a 20x40x60 cm size suitcase (larger suitcases require another ticket) and good for 90 minutes from the time of validation. It leaves every half hour from 6:00 to 24:00 and only takes 15 minutes to get to the town of Bergamo. It is tariff C and is good for three zones. So you can use it for the Line 1 bus which goes from the train station, past Porta Nuova to the more..

Bergamo Bus Station
Edit ThisThere are different bus stations in Bergamo. The "Autostradale" and "Zani" buses leave from the Bergamo Bus Station in Via Bono. It's across the street from the Train Station of Bergamo and a little to the left.
Instead the S.A.B. Bus Station is east of the train station or when you go out of the train station then you have to walk to your right.

Funicular to Città Alta Upper Town
Edit ThisTake the funicular up to the High Town. It's a cable car as you can hear it working during the ride. From the end of Bus 1 that goes from the train station down Viale Vittorio Emanuele II, get off at the curve and use the same ticket to go up the funicular. The funicular goes under Viale delle Mura and comes out in Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe. Then you will need another ticket if you decide to come back down.

Edit ThisTake the Funicular up to San Vigilio for a breath-taking view of Città Alta Upper Town. Once in Città Alta go to Colle Aperto near La Marianna Ristorante and pass through the giant open door Porta Sant'Alessandro gate of the City Walls. The funicular and cafe bar are on the right. The funicular goes up along the outside of the City Walls to San Vigilio where you can find three restaurants with bars and one with an outside bar in the summer time with a view of the Upper Town. There is a church, a castle and many beautiful walks to take.
