Day Trips
Edit ThisThe Douro River Rail Route
Edit ThisThe narrow and windy valleys of the Douro are amongst the most spectacular landscapes in Portugal. The Douro rail route, which joins the river about 60 km inland and then sticks to it across the country, is one of thse journeys that need no justification other than the trip itself. Even better is to change at Livracão for the branch to Amarante and then go by bus to Vila Real, returning down the Corgo Line to Regua and hten getting on the Douro Line back to Porto.
