Nias is an island west of Sumatra, south of the island of Simeulue. The term "Pulau" means "Island" in Indonesian.
Nias is composed of two provinces, viz. Nias Utara (North) and Nias Seletan(South).
Nias is known as an exotic surfer's paradise. Its tourism infrastructure is basic and mainly caters for backpack (surfer) tourists.
