On the east coast of Fife is St Andrews,
home to the first University in Scotland. The town has a medieval
centre with cobbled stoned streets, a cathedral and castle dating back
to the 12th century. St Andrews Cathedral was once the largest
cathedral in Scotland, it is now in ruins. St Andrews is more known for
being the home of golf, the sport has been played here for over 600
years. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews was established
here in 1754. St Andrews Links consists of 6 golf courses: The Old
Course, The Castle Course, the New, Jubilee, Eden and Strathtyrum. The
Old course being the most famous and is travelled to play by golfer
fanatics from all over the world.
