accommodation in St Andrews

Edit This

St. Andrews is quintessentially quaint with its Victorian architecture, cobblestone streets and phenomenally green fields. It is like living in an enchanted children’s bedtime story. There are numerous choices for a great stay at a St. Andrews hotel. The budget hotel selection is limited but high quality, so you might want to make reservations ahead of time if saving money is important to you.

Budget

For about $50 USD you can stay in a standard double room upstairs at Vardon House in St Andrews. Tony is your host and encourages a relaxing and laid back atmosphere here. The location is wonderful as you are in the center of St Andrews and around the block from the St Andrews Golf Course. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious.

The Brownlees Guest House also costs about $50 USD per night. A happy stay can be had by all with your hosts Jackie and Trevor. Rooms are not big, but are amply sized. The lines are all clean and soft. A marvelous breakfast is served and you have a choice of menu items.

Mid-Range

Comfortable and spacious rooms can be found at the Greyfriers Hotel for just over $100 USD. This hotel is in a great location. You can park your car and walk everywhere. The youthful staff is energetic and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and smoked salmon and haddock are served. Huge beds, extra pillows and a safe deposit box are just some of the great amenities offered to guests.

For the best location at a mid-range price try the Russell Hotel. The environment is warm and friendly.  For a view of the sea and the Old Course request room #5. Cozy and comfortable rooms are convenient to 1 st tee Old Course. Golf enthusiasts should try their golf package.

Luxury

The large rooms at the Fairmont St. Andrews will give you all the room you need and they have spectacular sea views. The gardens add to the already opulent atmosphere and are well maintenance and designed. This St Andrews hotel is not in the center of town but there is a complimentary shuttle bus that runs often. Unfortunately, the internet is not free and you are charged by the hour.

A small Scottish hotel, the Rufflets Country House, is unlikely to disappoint you. Although this hotel is expensive you can sometimes take advantage of last minute reservation discounts on their website. Rooms get great sunlight and are spacious and clean.
