Eating Out Intro in Oban
Edit ThisThere are a good variety of Oban restaurants to choose from. Oban, situated in Argyll, has been called the “Seafood Capital of Scotland” and many of the restaurants offer seafood fresh from the fishing boats. Most Oban restaurants offer stunning views of the harbor and of the magnificent Bay of Oban. While a couple of the restaurants are open until midnight, the average closing time is 10pm. All of the restaurants take credit cards and children are welcome. Most are also wheelchair accessible and many offer free parking. The average price of a meal costs from 10 to 30 British pounds.
Cuan Mor Bar and Restaurant
Cuan Mor is Gaelic for Big Ocean. The restaurant is located on George Street, overlooking beautiful Oban Bay. It is open from 12pm until 12am; food service stops at 10pm. The restaurant offers local seafood fresh off the fishing boats and other tasty local choices such as duck, haggis and many vegetarian dishes for those who do not like seafood. Many of the beers, ales and whiskies sold in the bar are also obtained locally. The restaurant also features live Celtic music.
The interior of the restaurant consists of table tops made of wood from the local Scottish forests. All of the interior structure is made from reclaimed and natural materials obtained locally. These natural touches make the Cuan Mor one of the most unique and original-looking restaurants in Oban. Cuan Mor can be reached by calling Paul Sloan at +44 (0) 1631-565078.
