At the bottom of Duff St near the harbour, due south of the lighthouse there is a new museum which opened on the 14th July 2006, it will be open for the summer season until the end of October 2007.  The museum is packed with interesting artefacts all about fishing and shipbuilding in the area, they also have models of a large oil-rig and a supply doat, several fishing boat models and many other items of maritime heritage.  For 2007 local heritage is also being celebrated and a lot of information about loacl heritage can be found.  Special attraction for 2007 is a life-size 'Dalek' from the Dr Who TV programme.  Also included is are bicycles from the past  - a 'Bone-shaker', a 'Penny Farthing' and a locally made 'Giraffe Bike'.  Well worth a visit if you're in the area.  Open Friday to Monday 1.00pm to 5.00pm (subject to availability of volunteers) Entry is FREE, donations welcome.
