Inverallochy Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeInverallochy small village to the east of Fraserburgh which is joined to the village of Cairnbulg, once was a busy fishing village. On the Cairnbulg side of the village is a small harbour but on the Inverallochy side the small sailing boats used to be pulled up onto the shore. There has been many shipwrecks at this point even though there is a beacon adjacent to the harbour. Inverallochy once had it's own castle which is now in ruins. Nearby Cairnbulg castle is the seat of the Fraser's the founders of Fraserburgh, this castle too was once in ruins but was saved by the Duthie shipbuilders from Aberdeen in the late 19th century. Currently back in the hands of the Fraser's (Lord Saltoun) who have continued to preserve this fine castle. Castle is only open by appointment. The remains of the massive RAF Fraserburgh which was extensively used in WW2 can still be seen in places.
