Spynie Palace dating from the 13th century lies a couple of miles north of Elgin on the Lossiemouth road. The castle is currently in the care of Historic Scotland and is open for visitors (for a small fee). The palace has been home to many of the bishops of Moray over the centuries.

In the care of Historic Scotland is this wonderful but ruined cathedral built in the 13th century. Situated in the heart of Elgin the cathedral is a major landmark in the city. Climb to the top of the tower and get great views all around the city. Large pict symbol stone stands proudly in the main body of the cathedral.
