It had a population of 1,319 according the 2001 census and is 95km from Belfast and 15km from Coleraine. The town's name derives from the River Bush flowing through it. It is most famous as the home of the Old Bushmills Distillery founded in 1608, making it the oldest licensed distillery in the world, and also for the nearby Giants Causeway.
