At the time of writing, April 2997, the New Forest in Hampshire is now a national park . The 'New' bit could be misleading because it was New royal forest in the time of William the Conqueror and his son, william Rufus was killed there in what was officially designated a 'hunting accident'.
The are is well served by both Southampton and Bournemouth Airports. There is also a main line stataitonw ith a fast service to London Waterloo. The drive from London is some two hours.
