LIVERPOOLS 800TH BIRTHDAY

IAN NEWTON

Eating out can be inexpensive with choices from fish and chips through to Indian, Greek, Italian and Chinese. Liverpool's Chinatown is situated in the Berry Street area of the city near to the Anglican Cathedral, which is the oldest in Europe.

Caesar's Palace

Edit This

On Renshaw Street. The service at Caesar's can be slow and it gets very busy at around 8.00 on a Saturday.

Further along Hope Street, in the basement of the Everyman Theatre, there is a bistro, which is reasonably good value for money.

Sapporo Teppanyaki

Edit This

Lovely food served by expertly trained chefs, very close to Chinatown. Watch out for the price though and drinks are extremely expensive.

The Number Seven Café

Edit This

Off Hope Street. This is quite a student-orientated café, being so close to the uni, and it offers good value for money and good food too. The vegetarian range is particularly good. Darren Northcott: A very good and handy place, good food at a good price.

Otters Pool

Edit This

If you're willing to drive out of the city a little way, the Otters Pool, at the Otterspool Promenade, about 4 miles to the south of the city centre, offers a good menu, with good vegetarian choice (though, incidentally, I found it better in the winter than the summer). Anglican Cathedral
