The British Boot Company
Edit This
The British Boot Company in Camden Town claims that they are the original shop and the only shop selling real Dr. Martens boots. The price they charge is much higher than the other shoes shops, the onlineshop directed by the official Dr. Martens website, as well as the REAL Dr. Martens shop. They tend to provide false information. For example, they would tell a customer the pair of boots are the new release model of the year but in fact, they are the old model. Also, the price given from one staff can be different from another staff, and also different (higher) than the listed price on their own website. They don't let tourists to claim VAT if you buy boots with small size as they said the the government sees small size shoes as children shoes for school and so would not allow to claim VAT. Their dishonest and overcharge behaviour should be seriously be looked at because they ruins the reputation of London as well as one of the most famous brands, Dr. Martens. As well they do not fulfill contractual order obligations such as shipping you the boots/shoes/products you order from them. $250 dollars for a pair of boots to be shipped to the U.S. and over four months later and tons of runaround from the "customer service" and no boots still. Avoid these bastards.
What more is there to add to the above review except that it seems that there hasn't been an improvement in customer service since 2007. This shop has a decent range of Dr Marten boots available, and if you can walk out of the shop with the shoes in your hands (or on your feet) then it's probably as good as anywhere (albeit over priced). You'd be well advised to be very very wary of ordering shoes in store though. I've given up on ever receiving mine, and think it unlikely I'll ever get my money back.
