This large, peaceful oasis of forest and grassland is open all day everyday providing a relaxing place to enjoy nature in Cambridge. There are a variety of adult and youth education programs available which were formed to get more visitors into the park. At the top of the hill in Wandlebury, you can spot the remains of an Iron Age Fortress.
2. Great St. Mary's
Being the official university church at Cambridge, St. Mary's is quite famous. The space in which it is located has been occupied by various churches since 1200. Although the actual building standing today was constructed in the 15th Century. Visitors can ascend the main tower and will be rewarded with the best views of the city. St. Mary's is also the church that has the oldest bell ringing society in Britain, and the song that Big Ben plays was originally written for the bells of this church.
3. Anglesey Abbey, Gardens, and Lode Mill
114 acres of spectacular gardens and landscapes await you at Anglesy Abbey. The actual house was built in a Jacobean style and has very unique works of art inside, as well as lavish furniture, and interesting statues. The property features an 18th Century watermill that still works perfectly. The gardens, mill, and wildlife area are open all year.
4. The Farmland Museum
Interactive and multimedia displays will get you quickly interested in the history of farming and rural areas in Cambridge. At the Farmland Museum you can visit 17th century village shops, such as the blacksmith or the basketmaker, and a stone barn as well. Adults pay 4 pounds to enter while any child under 5 years old enters for free.
5. Cambridge University Botanic Garden
This lush destination makes for a great way to spend the day. An entrance pass costs 4 pounds for adults and 3.50 for students and seniors. Anyone under 16 can enter free as long as he or she is with an adult. Wander through the dry Rock Garden, the Tropical Rain Forest, the Lake and Water Garden, the Glasshouses, or the Alpine House among others. The Ecological Mound also features a gorgeous collection of native British plants which you're sure to be impressed by. The Scent Garden is another must-visit area which brings together plants from around the globe with rich, exotic smells. If you get tired or hungry, the Botanic Garden has a shop and a nice cafe which you can always stop by.
