Eating Out in Cambridge

Fine Dining
Even for a college town there are fine dining options to explore in Cambridge. Midsummer House is an example. They have a two course set lunch menu for $90 and a three course set dinner menu for $120. It is set in a lovely cottage with a menu that changes frequently depending on the ingredients available. They serve mostly Mediterranean inspired foods and the chef works hard to create new and interesting selections. Some of the creations featured on the menu have been beef Rossini and roast squab pigeon. Reservations are required to dine here; the earlier you make a reservation the better table you’ll receive.
Local Cuisine
British foods are usually unfussy foods that are made with little fluff or thrills. It’s simple quality food made with local ingredients. Common dishes include meat pies, fish and chips and puddings. One restaurant in Cambridge that serves local foods is The Cambridge Chop House. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and the menu is centered around traditional British Food. You can get things like duck breast, suet pudding or roast rabbit at very reasonable prices. Average prices here are about $20 to $30 for dinner. Pubs
Pubs are a big thing all over England and that’s no different in Cambridge. Some of the best places for cheap good food are the pub foods that are served in a number of different of establishments. Along with a pint of beer you can get sandwiches or heavy meals. At the Green Man you will find a great menu of traditional pub foods like bangers and mash or English pies. They also serve other dishes like fish cakes in a curry sauce. Prices are usually around $10 to $20. Other pubs you might try are The Snug and The Globe.
