Day Trips in England
Edit ThisTaking England Day Trips during your excursion to England can enrich your travel experience. Be sure to set aside at least a day and plan on either of these exciting day trips:
Paris, France
In only about 2 1/2 hours, you can get to Paris from London by taking a ride on the Chunnel (underwater tunnel) that crosses the English Channel. Take the Eurostar high-speed train from London's St. Pancras station to Paris' Gare du Nord Station for between about US$62 and US$400 each way, depending on whether you want economy or first class tickets and how far in advance you book.
While you won't be able to see all Paris has to offer in a day, you can write up a must-see list that includes any of the most iconic locations, such as the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Elysees, the Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame. Don't forget to include a dinner at one of the best restaurants in the world, which you'll find in Paris!
Edinburgh, Scotland
Part of the same United Kingdom, but quite a different destination entirely, Scotland is another optimal day trip location from England and Edinburgh is the capital and one of its most popular cities. From King's Cross Station in London, you can take a train to Edinburgh in about 4 hours and 20 minutes or 4 hours and 50 minutes for about US$23 to US$420 each way (depending on which class you're seated).
While in Edinburgh, you can visit Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Parliament Building, Old Town, New Town and a plethora of other locations in this picturesque, lush and vibrant city. Or you can sign up for a complete tour of the city, even including the fare from and to London.
