Dartmoor sights

Edit This

Tavistock is the best base for sights on the river Tavy and its tributary, the Walkham. The rivers meet at Double Waters, a stunningly beautiful spot reached via the lovely bridge at Grenofen on a great walk from Magpie bridge on the Plymouth road.

Other fine spots on the Walkham are Walkhampton, where the tower of the typical granite church may be open and nearby Ward Bridge. Marytavy and Petertavy are fine villages on the Tavy above Tavistock. Included in the area is the delightfully named more..

Morwellham

Edit This

Morwellham was a major industrial port at the highest navigable part of the Tamar, enjoying its peak in the 19th century and now rescued from obscurity as an open-air museum.

Its website gives details of what can be seen there and it is really enjoyable for children as well as adults.
