Beaches in Birmingham
Edit ThisBirmingham beaches may not qualify as coastal beaches but, if you have a patch of sand next to a body of water, you have a beach.
Edgbaston ReservoirEdgbaston Reservoir is a great place to set up camp for the day along the shores and enjoy a variety of water sports. Pack a basket full of food and a cooler full of cold drinks and ice and head out for a day on the water. Edgbaston Reservoir is on the west side of Birmingham and is easy to get to. If you are into the thrill of speeding around on the water by way of sailing, then this is the spot for you. You can windsurf, sail, jet ski, water ski or just spend the day anchored out in the middle of the reservoir enjoying your family and friends.
Bartly ReservoirBartly Reservoir offers all the same great water sports and patches of ground where you can throw your towel down, grab your book and spend the day reading beneath the summer sun. If you're feeling a little thirsty you can find a bar where you can grab an ice cold beer and cool down. The kids are not left out of the picture at Bartly Reservoir as the sailing clubs host family fun dates from May through September where the entire family can spend the day on the water and participate in treasure hunts, races and other fun activities.
Noccalula FallsNoccalula Falls kicks off the summer with its Smoke on the Water event. You can throw a towel down on the bank of the river, dip your feet in the cool water and enjoy entertainment and a great beach party. Eat great barbequed food, splash and get wet, sun yourself on the bank and relax as the day slips away with enjoyment and relaxation. Noccalula Falls has other great attractions as well the waterfalls. Check them out while enjoying the waterfalls at the same time.
Kingsbury Water ParkKingsbury Water Park is situated along the river Thames and is a great place to find all kinds of activities from water fun to land tromping. Kingsbury Water Park can rise to the occasion and offer fishing, sailing, water skiing and boating of all kinds. Enjoy camping overnight and watch the sun rise over the water in the morning. You are sure to find a patch of sand here next to the river and it is sure to be a beach experience you will remember for years to come.
